Hubbed flanges are divided into hubbed slip-on flanges and weld neck flanges.A weld neck flange connection consists of one gasket, two weld neck flanges, and several bolts and nuts.
The pipe diameter and wall thickness at the connection end of the weld neck flange are the same as those of the pipe to be welded, allowing welding similar to joining two pipes. When the thickness of the straight hub section of a weld neck flange exceeds that of the mating steel pipe by more than 1 mm, the straight section shall be thinned at the inner diameter, with a taper ≤ 1:3.

- FF: Flat Face
- RF: Raised Face
- FM‑M: Male and Female Face
- T‑G: Tongue and Groove Face
- RJ: Ring Joint Face
The nominal pressure of weld neck flanges ranges approximately from 1.0 MPa to PN25 MPa.Weld neck flanges of PN10 MPa are classified as high-pressure flanges.
Weld neck flange connections feature low deformation tendency and excellent sealing performance, and are widely used in:
- Pipes with large fluctuations in temperature or pressure
- High-temperature, high-pressure and low-temperature service
- Pipes transporting expensive media, flammable & explosive media, and toxic gases
